Given the Hydraulic Joint has two end-fittings, it cannot be designed as a closed ring. The small void located at the recess makes it impossible using the Hydraulic Joint as a secondary seal.
In tunnels where an internal joint closure or secondary seal is required, we can take full advantage of the Hydraulic Joint sealing capabilities by filling this void and completing a closed ring. JCFlex offers this joint closure. It is essentially a suitable sealing compound based on silane-modified polymers.
